General Requirements

Admission to the program is contingent upon good academic standing and acceptance by the department. Achievement of a grade of C or better is required in all psychology courses applied toward the major. Students must complete 120 semester hours of work, including the College of Arts and Sciences General Education Requirements, required credit hours in the major, and general electives selected with the advisor’s approval. The following program requirements apply to first-year, transfer students, and newly-declared psychology majors beginning Fall 2020.

General Education Requirements (36 credit hours)

(9) credit hours in Humanities and Fine Arts (at least 3 credits humanities and 3 credits fine arts)
(9) credit hours in Social Sciences (at least two disciplines)
(9) credit hours in Natural Sciences (physical science and biology; one must include a lab).

Core Requirements (12 credit hours)

(6) credit hours in English composition
(3) credit hours in Oral communication
(3) credit hours in Mathematics

College of Arts and Sciences Requirement (3 credit hrs)

One course in a Foreign Language (3 hrs)
One general education or major course carrying the diversity designation (embedded)
